Global Goethe is a digital humanities project of The Goethe Society of North America that is still very much in its infancy. With the help of scholars from around the world, we hope the site will serve not just as a repository of translations, adaptations, performances, and visualizations of Goethe and his works from around the world, but also as a place for collaborative scholarship that examines the many representations of Goethe across languages and cultures.
Much as the Sturm-und-Drang Goethe was inspired by Shakespeare, Global Goethe also follows the example of Shakespeare collections, such as the MIT Global Shakespeares Video & Performance Archive and the Global Shakespeare partnership between the University of Warwick and Queen Mary University of London. If you are interested in contributing to the Global Goethe project, please contact the directors.
